Second time through this book, first time was reading second time was listening. I remember being in SUCH a book hangover after reading this book for the first time (I even remember where I was). Second time thru and with considerably more reading time under my belt, I can say I still really enjoyed it. True, it’s like a lot of other romantasy books (FMC doesn’t know her true powers, MMC is the dark broody bad guy, they’re forced to work together thru some deadly trials), but it was still a fun ride. And the ending! Ugh I remember what a gut punch that was 😣

“Never trust. Never yield. Always guard your heart”

Oraya, the human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king, has spent her entire life learning how to protect herself from the predators in her father’s world.  That is until she finds an unexpected ally in Raihn, a handsome vampire whom she’s competing against in the Kejari.

Don’t even get me started on Raihn! I love a book boyfriend with a tough exterior and a cinnamon roll center for his partner. Raihn checks all those boxes.

Carissa Broadbent never disappoints! She has quickly become my second favorite author. I devoured her War of Lost Hearts Series and now I’m falling head over heels with this story as well!

I loved this book! A human in a world ruled by vampires, Oraya enters something like the Hunger Games.... 5 trails to the death and the winner receives a gift from a goddess.

I was totally hooked by this book and can't wait for the next one. So many twists and turns! I didn't see the ending coming at all.
