Your mileage may vary. Many parts of this book provide space for reflection about our cultural/societal views, but there's definitely a focus on cis, white feminism. The dialogue of the book heavily reflects this perspective, there are mentions of other marginalized identities (the author making an attempt to be intersectional), but it feels performative and surface level at best. After the paragraphs or sections that are meant to target important intersections of feminism, the language inevitably returns back to that focus- I don't fit this demographic and have a limited threshold of relating, and I became uncomfortable reading it after a while.Â

I did really enjoy this book I just found it slightly boring to read at times, it sometimes felt repetitive and some of the chapters lacked depth in my opinion. However some chapters of this book were absolutely fascinating, I really enjoyed the historical elements of it. This was the first book I have fully read in years, and it had got me back into reading so I have to give it that!

I found the concepts in this book really interesting and would like to explore them further, however, the book itself felt like a series of introductions and I would have preferred if they'd have gone a little further in depth.
