I enjoyed this, but the minute I found it was not a duology or trilogy, I was disappointed. The pacing in the 1st half is nice, slow and easy and back and forth between the main leads where they make up and break up every second without them actually putting a title on their relationship and refusing to say how they feel and I was okay with that because they had alot of issues to get through both mentally and emotionally and they needed to get past those in order to move and be happy but when we hit the 60% mark of the book we went from 10-100 in 5 chapters like I kid you not the book had 5 chapters left and they still hadn't resolved anything from their past much less the present and you want me to believe they live happily ever after, after supposedly resolving all that in 5 chapters. And the chapters are not even that long they are 13 pages max and with said of we had gotten a 2nd book or 3rd book we would have seen the characters grow as individuals and as a couple and build together and be able to move on not that bullshit that happened ๐Ÿ˜€
It's actually sad ๐Ÿ˜” I was gonna give then a 5 star rating, but that ending didn't bring it all together ๐Ÿ˜ข
It's still a good book and would recommend ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Yโ€™all. I devoured this book! I was actually hesitant to read it because it was described as different from her usual and CCJ is my go to for feel good, contemporary Black romance so I wasnโ€™t sure how Iโ€™d like something a little darker but this was GOODT. I loved Asha and King. Def mind the cws though!
