LOVED IT

This author`s works are growing on me so badly, that I am starting to stalk her schedule for new releases from one month to the other. It gets even worse when I have nothing good left to read. Then, I am battling the formation of a reflex that wants me to go and re-read her books

The short and sweet of it, is that at this hour, on the book market (especially for adult fantasy/ adult paranormal/ adult romance) this is the best you can get. But, I have some comments to make on things that I would have liked to go in another direction, but those I am going to keep for the spoilers sections. I appreciate this work too much, to ruin it for others.

Spoiler

The Spoiler Section:

Because the book is divided on the POV of both parts, there are moments when their POV overlap. For example, she goes through something and the plot moves with her narration and we arrive at a point, but then, the next POV, of his, goes back on the thing that has just happened and re-tells the story from his perspective (I guess it is interesting if you are expecting for some outburst of strong emotions or confessions from his side, but it can become annoying quickly, especially if you want to move ahead with the action). Another thing that I did not like that much was the part about the ending. The entire last quarter of the book did not feel too good. It felt either like something was missing or that the story is taking an U-turn towards a direction I did not feel that it fit organically (it might be also because the book is a standalone and it is pretty hard to make a round end and fit all the things into their proper place).

Regardless, this book is a 10/10 (or 5 stars out of 5, in Goodreads lingo).

"You aren’t sweet at all, little mortal. Your quiet forest is filled with pits disguised by blankets of pretty flowers. The unwary misstep and impale themselves on your spikes.”

Unexpectedly long and winding, Lord of Dance and Desire weaves its own sort of guilded cage around the reader. Long and messy--both the characters and certain aspects of the prose--this story was a fun read that kept me entertained.

I was surprised by how complicated the romance was considering how simple it started. It lead to a book with many surprising moments (love a good orgy!) that kept me intrigued. If only the villain was as entertaining as our two main characters, then I might even say that this book was great.

Thank you to the author for allowing me a chance to give an honest review of this book!
I am absolutely in love with the premise of this story!! It hits so many of my hobbies and loves with the mix of high fae and ballet and that twist thrown in with Hassanah is just chefs kiss amazing. There is mystery and adventure and steamy romance. That kept me turning the page.
Now the bad. The writing was a little hard for me to push through. I did and I am SO GLAD that I did but things were sometimes described a bit much or awkwardly and sometimes just didn't make sense. There were lots of random fancy/flowery words that didn't fit with the flow of the writing. I did appreciate having to look up the definitions of words (yay for kindle having one built in!) as that doesn't happen much anymore. The formatting on kindle was a little weird and the excessive use of ellipses was a bit hard to get used to. Some details didn't make sense either. Why would the main character complain about a nickname being used by a rival but then their friends continued to use the nickname throughout the entire book? There is no translation given for the second language sometimes used by the main character leaving you to have to figure out the language with limited context clues and then look up the translations using special characters. This could be easily fixed with a glossary in the book.
If you like longer books and can look past some rough writing I would definitely recommend this one.
