Beautiful book! The characters are all so wonderfully rich and alive in the pages of this book, and you find yourself eager to return to the pages to see how their stories unfold.

A realistic view on what is similar to India's caste system which still exists and makes me ashamed of how even my family and friends have treated the help in bad ways.

Well hot dayum.

OK I'm ready to review. This book got me into reading again after a 2 year hiatus. THANK YOU KATHRYN STOCKETT. Seriously.. look how fast I'm finishing the Kite Runner. This book was devine. I had a nanny myself when I was younger and Abilene and Mae Mobley's bond touched my lil' old heart.

Me hizo llorar y reír al mismo tiempo. Me encariñé con los personajes como si fueran de carne y hueso.
Es un libro hermoso ♥️

I can say with sincerity that I have a new favourite book. I watched the movie first not long after it was released and I was about eleven years old. Not to long after that I decided I had to read the book. So yes this book has been on my tbr for just under ten years (I procrastinated reading it because I had already watched the movie). All the characters have a depth that I can truly admire and the scenes are described in enough detail that you can truly picture it out without feeling like you’re drowning in unnecessary adjectives.
The novel in roughly 450 pages and successfully touches on many hard hitting and important topics. The main one and most important one being the segregation between African Americans and white people in Jackson, Mississippi. Some other topics that Stockett included are mental health, fertility, stereotyped gender rolls, heartbreak, illness and domestic violence. Despite all that she included it does not feel packed whatsoever.
I hands down give this five stars.
My advice is if you have been procrastinating reading this, stop and just read it. You will thank yourself.

It's often said that "the book is always better than the movie". In every case where I've experienced both, I'd have to agree, making [b:The Help|4667024|The Help|Kathryn Stockett|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1346100365s/4667024.jpg|4717423] no exception. I worked through this book quickly, but I found myself easily immersed into the world and lives of the characters.

One thing that differs greatly from the film is that Stockett tells the story using first-person narration from three separate points of view - Aibilene, Skeeter, and Minny. Each has a distinct voice - not only in the way they speak but also the way they see the world. There is a depth and richness to this story that goes well above the film (which I also enjoyed). The writing is very well done and I definitely look forward to another novel from Kathryn Stockett.
