She’s a vacation blogger showing the world her life with possible ALS whose drug addict sister just dropped off her newborn and disappeared. Of course the super hot, rich, lawyer that lives next door wants to hold the baby to her at 4 am so she can shower. Like, that’s totally something that happens in real life. But there he was helping and that’s what started an epic friendship, and maybe a little something more.

Rating: 4.5/5 stars

All the women in Vanessa’s family have died before the age of thirty and she’s positive she will be next…but things get complicated when a baby falls in her lap and the attractive lawyer next door steps in to lend a hand.

This was by far my favorite installment of this series, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Vanessa and Adrian were amazing, I loved their chemistry and watching their relationship bloom from strangers to friends to lovers. I loved the complicated family dynamics and thought they added a lot of depth to the story, and I was really invested in the plot the entire time.

My one complaint is probably that this one didn’t feel like it wrapped up quite as neatly as the previous books, and I would have liked a big epilogue to tie off all the bows (particularly if it also checked in on the couples from books one and two!) But, in the context of this story and the messages/themes it offers, I also understand why it would leave things a tiny bit more open-ended.

All in all, I’m officially a Jimenez fan now, and can’t wait to jump into her standalones soon!

Recommended to anyone, but especially if you like: slow burn strangers-to-friends-to-lovers; geriatric chihuahuas; rom-coms with heavy topics

CW: Death of parent/loved ones; terminal illness; drugs/addiction; panic attacks
