I have to admit i loved the first 2 books more, but only because i’m mainly a fluffy happy reader, and rarely go in the angsty books. But man, the characters hooked me from the first 2 books  so i couldn't NOT read this! Im so so heartbroken for Joey and Aoife. There were times i hated them, and then there were times i really loved them. It made me feel so much. Both characters made some really bad decisions, and i was so frustrated and had to remind myself that they’re still kids. The book was also soooo long. Unnecessarily so. I found myself skipping forward from time to time and backtracking. Their relationship was also super toxic. I mean i admire how much Aoife was dedicated to joe, and i kinda admire how much leeway her parents gave her when she wanted to chase joe around to wherever (there were SO MANY TIMES her parents told her not to go out to chase him and to take care of herself…. But she still gets her way to get out except that one time they finally made her stay). But realistically, this was too intense and unhealthy. Its great it ended nicely, but also sad how joe ended up not being able to experience NOT taking care of a baby and just finally enjoying his youth a bit more. Im happy he’s content at the end but damn, he has another baby to raise now.

But yea, mostly enjoyed seeing Shan, her adorable brothers, Gibsie, Johnny and his parents! They made everything worthwhile. Gibbs is a sweetheart.

I’m also really really curious at how that thing with Lizzie, Katie, Hugie and Patrick is gonna go. Seeing blurbs about how there’s potential cheating made me so angry at Lizzie (not to mention she was pretty bitchy in the 1st 2 books), and i never thought i could like her OR read her book…. but darn it, Chloe Walsh has made me even more curious to learn more after reading this book! I just really hope its not the same story in another characters POV. I’m kinda getting bored of how it’s centered around the events of the first book. Hoping the next ones shows everyones lives AFTER the whole book 1-4 events. (Or at least just covers the past events briefly)

besties where do I start. Ok im gonna do one character at a time. So let’s start with a brief overview. my babies are parents🥹🥹🥹 I can’t get over how cute they are together and the epilogue at the end where they’re in the annex behind the kavannaughs house😭😭 I love their little family.
Joey- he deserves soooo much and I’m happy that he got his happy ending - by farrrr one of the most interesting, complex characters I’ve read about. He’s literally a brother, a parent, and boyfriend, a dad an everything. He’s literally Aoifes best friend and I’m so happy they have each other. The shit he went through in these books broke my heart into pieces that I don’t think will ever become whole again😞 honestly I’ve never sobbed like that for a character. He tried as well, he reallly tried the first time he sobered up himself he was doing so well. But all because of his ‘parents’ the whole reason why he turned to drugs in the first place is why he went back. Honestly tho his relationship with Aoife is perfect like I’m obsessed
“Hey, stud”
“Hey, queen”
They really gave Johnny and Shan a run for their money frrrr. But also all his friends and the relationships he developed killed me. PLS I NEED HIM AND GIBS(GUSSIE🤭) TO BECOME BESTIES!! I love their friendship and they’re in all the same classes🤣🤣 soo cuteeee. Also he took them to the hospital when she was having the baby🥹. And he showered him and cleaned him after that time he took too much drugs. He’s literally such a good person I love himmm!!!!!
Listen I’m a Lizzie defender4eva and seeing her and joes relationship😭😭😭 I love her even more. He’s like one of the only ones that knows about her and hughie🥲. Also that night, that bleeding awful night. I broke in half. I actually shattered.

“This girl. Messy as fuck or not, this girl had my unconditional support.”

“Yeah, for the rest of the school year, she would come under the same umbrella that Tadhg and Shannon did.”

Plssss their little bond is so cute I’m obsessed. They’re basically siblings and I can’t wait for him to support her when her book comes out🤭🤭.

Aoife- my babygirl. I actually don’t understand people who chat shit about her. She’s literally done through her own trauma. She literally struggled with romantic relationships because of her parents and that’s why she was always asking joe about his past. (Also the way he didn’t consent to his virginity being taken broke me. He was failed by literally everyone. I can’t even deal.) also when she said (the thing about his dad to him) SHE WAS LITERALLY SEXUALLY ASSAULTED BY HIS DAD TWO SECS AGO. He literally pulled her knickers down and shoved her down and she thought it was Joey when he first came in. So no I don’t blame her. And it really hurt that it happened because that whole situation was so devastating especially after when he relapsed. But I am an Aoife apologist till I die🤭🤭 love you babes. Gibsie literally even became friends with her and the was he didn’t even hesitate to give her the money🥹🥹. He is literally the blueprint. I don’t make the rules🫢. When she had to get joe from that room with needles sticking out his arm, and then she had to go through all that extra testing cause he’s a drug user I swear my heart fell apart😭. She’s the strongest girl and he’s the strongest guy❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 my OTP and fave parents of little AJ🥹🥹🥹. Then calling him Anthony cause he raised them both had me bawling🥹.  SOLID 5/5 the little Claire-bear&Gibsie crumbs we got, the mammy K scenes, the brother relationship happening between him and Kav😭 and all the scenes with his siblings (I was gonna say seany-boo especially but it’s literally also Tadgh and Shan and ols🥹) I love everything about this book and Boys of Tommen will forever have my heart<333 I need next year and the next book to come like yesterday. I’m literally already rereading all my highlights😭.

Wow.

Read this book when you are in a good place emotionally because it will put you in a bad place emotionally. It is heavy, raw and the hits just keep coming, and coming, and coming. This deals very heavily with Joey’s heroin addiction, caused by a nightmare of domestic abuse and violence, as well as Aoife’s
pregnancy
. I’m sorry if that is a spoiler but literally that is what this whole book is about and if that’s not what you want to read about - no holding back in any way - don’t read this book. The list of content warnings is long and it is explicit.

That being said, Joey Lynch is quite possibly my favorite “book boyfriend” ever. Don’t misunderstand, he would be the worst boyfriend ever (until the end.) However, I was left completely in awe of everything he dealt with, sacrificed, and overcame for his family. Talk about a true hero and a freaking amazing human who was doing the best he could with the crumpled up piece of shit hand he was dealt.
And I understand that staying around for someone like Joey might not be advisable in the “romance” world, but Aoife’s sticking power was an impressive example of unconditional love. She saved his life.

This book is anger, angst, hopelessness, devastation, and just the most raw story of Joey’s sacrifices for his family, his struggle to overcome his trauma/addiction, and Aoife’s refusal to ever give up on him. Theirs is a powerful love.

Chloe Walsh gave us another amazing story. I could hardly put this down. But yeah, if you thought Shannon’s story was heavy…it’s got nothing on Joey.
