Quick Thoughts: I did listen to this one and Tatiana Sokolov, Sean Crisden knocked it out of the park. TBH--this was another one of those that Joanna gets all the props for cause the ending is one that would have normally made me throw the book. The chemistry is hot. The story is on point and gritty.

Loved this story! Even if it was a shorter novella I still felt like it had all the meat of a true novel. The only part that felt rushed was the end but I feel like it leaves opportunities for seeing Shade and Mandy in Reapers MC books in the future. I couldn't put this book down and I read it in a day. I really loved Mandy she was strong and I feel like she fit well with Shade.
Spoiler I mean when she beat the shit out of the truck I was laughing (I've always wanted to do that) and when Shade handed her the tire iron... I swooned!!!

we always say the guy's are led around by their d***s. Well to me the h was a female version of that. Her lust for various ex's including the one she was with at the start of the book seemed to over power what little common sense she may have had. I really did not want to read about sexual details of the h and her (then) boyfriend...eeww, just a turn off. I don't expect my h's to be virginal, just don't give me the gory details. That needs to be reserved for the relationship between the H and the h.
Still entertaining enough.

Summary: Barmaid Mandy meets Reapers MC National President Shade at the biker bar she works at. Her casual boyfriend strikes a deal with Shade, throwing them together, while her family life gets complicated and dangerous.

Stats: CR/MC - M/F, part of a series, but stands alone, open door

Notes: I love this book - it's a comfort read of a (long) novella for me. It's tidy and thoughtfully constructed and just the right amount of external plot vs romance. I forgot how funny Mandy is - with the voice of Wonder Woman as her conscience/guardian angel. The audiobook on Audible is not worth the purchase - while the narration is performed well (as always by these two), the recording quality is relatively poor and it leaves out the AMAZING EPILOGUE.

I have a love/hate relationship with novellas because, a) they're great for a quick read, but, b) they end too soon. Both are the case with Shade's Lady because I wanted so much more than what we were given as I'm completely selfish and love being in Wylde's Reapers world. This novel starts us at the top, with the National President of the Reapers MC and his love story.

Mandy, our heroine, had a palpable quality to her. Her hesitance and raw survivor strength gripped me and endeared me to her. Her unabashed realness and humorous inner dialogue were their own character within this novel and I loved her because of (and for) it. She made no qualms or excuses for who she was and what's she's done, but her moral compass was always pointed in the right direction. Shade's raw attraction to her and the reciprocation she felt, along with the buildup of their sexual tension, created a sexy, but lust-filled novel.

Wylde managed to pack in quite a bit into this novella, giving us two fully rounded characters and their love story, in Shade's Lady and it felt incredibly good to be back with an MC that I've come to know and love. But if I could be greedy, I would want more of these two. As it is, it's the perfect introduction to the series if you haven't yet taken the plunge and a great addition to the series if you're a veteran. Wylde's writing, as always, pulls you in and carries you through to the last page. I can't wait for more from this MC.

It has to be said that the Reaper’s series is one of my favourites and I was so excited when Joanna Wylde announced she was participating in 1001 Dark Nights. Not only would we get more Reaper’s, but we finally get to know the man behind it all; the president of the whole Reaper crew, Shade.

Throughout the Reaper series we’ve met Shade, but never really got to know him properly because he’s not based in the chapter of the MC that is led by Picnic. So I was definitely excited to finally get a real look at this biker, and of course to see him fall in love ( because who doesn’t love it when a big bad biker loses his heart?).

Straight away I was hooked into Shade’s Lady and I was instantly rooting for the characters to get together and have a HEA (what can I say? I’m a hopeless romantic) and I’m not going to lie, I was giddy when they first met and I loved every interaction between them.

There was everything I love about the Reaper’s, all packed into this 200 page novella, and as per usual with this series, I’m now desperate for the next book! Bring it on!!
