I feel like my timing for reading Rebecca Shea's work is off.

When I first read Dare Me it was soon after reading another book with almost an identical plot. (That book came out before DM). And I find the same thing happening with Fault Lines. I just read a book with basically the same plot line. There were differences yes, but the major components of the books were the same.
I am NOT accusing her of plagiarism. It just sucks as a reader for this to happen.

Outside of that, this book was ok. I found the ending to be pretty unbelievable. I've never been in love though, so I could be wrong.

Rebecca Shea is one of my go-to-authors. I read everything she writes because she's that fantastic. Her writing always pulls all of the emotions out of me. The gut wrenching sobs, the bubbling laughter, the tingles. Fault Lines is an emotion packed second chance romance. One of my favorite things about this story is Cole and his ability to show emotion. He never got over Frankie, his first love. He thought he was doing the right thing, but it ended up being his biggest regret. When he sees her again years later, he quickly becomes determined to remind her what they meant to each other. He never stopped loving her and he wants her back. Frankie isn't going to just forget how he broke her heart. His decision led her down a different path and she can't forgive him for it. Yet. Frankie needs to figure out what she wants out of life. Where she wants to go and what she wants to do. Does that include letting Cole back in? Can they bury the past and move together into the future? I loved these characters. They are both strong and vulnerable. Stubborn and level headed. Sexy and sweet. I'm hoping the secondary characters get a story!

Fault Lines is a quick type of read I usually lean more towards. One that I can read in one or two sittings and one that has enough angst and emotional drainage to hold me over until my next binge.

My one and only issue with this book was the faulty (see what I did there) communication. It's a pet peeve of mine, as a reader. Communication goes a loooooong way but not in Fault Lines and it was dragged a little too long which made it not so interesting to me. I got bored and I was antsy for the climax to hit.

A really cool aspect of this story, though is the connection between the title and the story itself. It was cool all of the ways Rebecca linked the title to the characters and the situations that arise within the story. No irony should be lost on anyone!

Another thing I liked about this book was the secondary characters. Namely Carter. *wink wink* They drove not only the characters motives and actions in this story but they drove the story itself. They were the people I wanted them to be and they said the things to the main characters that I wanted to say since I couldn't be their word of reason. When I wanted to call Cole stupid, Carter was right there doing it for me!

I feel like Rebecca can stem off of this book in many ways. There are quite a few characters who need their story told and I hope that their time comes.

Love, loss, lies, and forgiveness is what you're getting into when you open up Fault Lines. Sometimes that is just the type of book I'm looking for and I'm so glad that I found it within these pages.

Fault Lines is a second chance romance complete with angst and some emotional tugs on the heart. Rebecca certainly knows how to deliver everything you'd expect in this particular trope. And therein lies my problem. It's a good story, no doubt, but there is also nothing in particalar that makes this read stand apart from the rest.

This is a well written yet predictable read and I know there are plenty of readers who eat up this kind of book. Not me. I needs stories and authors that dare to color outside of the lines a bit more.

I've been on a second-chance romance kick lately so when I was given the chance to read this one, I jumped on it.

Ten years prior, Cole had purposefully broken Frankie's heart.  She didn't know why he did what he did, but it caused her to run away from their hometown and abandon her family to hide from the pain she still wasn't over.  But when a family emergency brings her back home, she's forced to face why she left and how to reconcile the past from the present.

I wanted to love this story.  It was obvious these two still harbored deep feelings for the other, but I couldn't understand with those feeling why they let 10 years go by.  Frankie's hurt made sense, but to fall so quickly back into those feelings just let me wonder why'd they wait.

Fans of Rebecca Shea will love this book, but my questioning of why took away from the reconnection to fully enjoy the essence of the story.

I really loved the Sweet Home Alabama feel to this book.

I REALLY wanted to give this a higher rating... Ted being so two-dimensional and the sophomoric attitude of people that are 30+ prevented that.

This book was a trip. I saw somethings coming, others I didn’t, hoped certain actions wouldn’t happen, but did end up happening. Found some of the plot to be a little extra, but I still devoured it. This was my first book from this author, and I’ll probably pick up more of her books.
