My 4-year-old son loves these books. And I mean, for him to pay attention to any book for more than five seconds (let alone a chapter book!) is a miracle.

The fourth book (and third book for me) in this series. This time a professor with an original name and his plans to take over the world (though I totally was cheering him on).
I have to say I liked this one less than the previous books I read. It had to do with the teachers (this is definitely not what you do to your students/pupils, I know it is exaggerated, but it still was just too much for me. What terrible teachers, they shouldn't be working there at all.). But it also had to do with the name calling. I rather liked the fact there was a country that made up their own names and had silly/weird names. But the poor man was bullied, with his new and old name. He didn't even do anything wrong, he was patient, sweet, kind, and all he wanted was to show those kids how awesome science could be. I know, I know, I shouldn't take it serious, but for some reason I couldn't help but being very pissed at the kids and everyone around that professor.
So yeah, instead of cheering for the good guys to win.... I was rooting for the professor to get his revenge. Yep, I was rooting for the baddie. Though, then again, he wasn't necessarily evil, he just snapped. I did like his revenge plan, and how (hilariously) people were unhappy. See, you don't like it to be bullied with your name, then don't do it to others.
Also the shrinking of the school was an excellent plan.
I loved the pranks (not the name calling) by George and Harold (or should I say Fluffy and Cheeseball). They should just ask their parents to move to another school, one that doesn't mind imagination and instead will motivate and stimulate the brains of these 2 kids.
On the one hand I am not too happy with the mistakes in the comics (it does get a bit old), but on the other hand it does fit the age of the duo.
I also loved that little kid that made its appearance twice in this story, and what he said/did during those two appearances. :P
Then there is the fourth wall breaking and that is just my favourite thing in this series.
Captain Underpants is also a brilliant character, it is just a shame that for most of the time he isn't around.
So I hope that the next book has a bit better plot/less bullying, I can't wait to see what villain we get next time!

Harold and George are back once again alongside Captain Underpants!
In this book, we find Professor P. Poopypants in Swissland (the country where everyone has a really hilarious name) and he has discovered the answer to both the world's trash and food problems. He decides to go to America to show off his invention but everyone just laughs at his name.
Over at Jerome Horwitz Elementary School, Mr. Fyde has decided that it is time to retire because he keeps hearing things that are causing him to question his sanity. This leaves open the position of Science teacher. Professor Poopypants takes up the job only to find that the children laugh at his name. He decides the best course is revenge and shrinks the school down. With the school at his mercy, he starts to make them change their names into something funny.
Of course, Captain Underpants with the help of his two sidekicks (can we even call them his sidekicks?), Harold and George, defeat the Professor.
This series only seems to get better and better with each book. I haven't found one yet that I have not liked. I found it hilarious when they had to change their names to please Professor Poopypants. Mr. Krupps became Lumpy Pottybiscuits while George and Harold become Fluffy and Cheeseball.
These books are funny and the illustrations are fun to look at as you read the book. If you are trying to get a child to read or know someone who is starting to read, these books would be a great addition to the collection.

These books are just so silly. My son was giggling up a storm at all of the silly names in this book. I liked the plot and found it creative and fun.

Hilarious continuation of the Captain Underpants series. These books are so much fun to read.
Readers will enjoy changing their friends names and cheering our heroes on as they right wrongs, save the day, and even learn something at the end.
Great book for reluctant young readers. Lots of hilarious pictures and engaging formatting like flip-o-rama.

Another fun and hilarious adventure featuring Captain Underpants and a brand new villain. The audiobook is so much fun and well adapted from the visual-heavy original format. Details in the pictures are worked into the narration and dialogue so it is easy to enjoy in its new audio format. Also includes epic music, different voice actors and voice changes for different characters, and Sound-o-rama, a fun alternative to the original Flip-o-rama.
Also loved the little details for the audiobook such as converting all the names of those who helped create the audiobook with Professor P's name chart.
While I love the silliness of these books and the gross-out humor, I don't enjoy this one quite as much as some of the others in the series. Though Pilkey wanted to have a little moral about name calling and hurting people's feelings, I do dislike how mental health is treated in the book. George and Harold go too far in making someone quit their job because they think they are mentally unwell. It's meant to be funny but seems to take the joke too far. He's the one teacher who isn't outright terrible to the kids and it's sad to see him treated that way. It's a small detail but I disliked the negative associations of "crazy" people, especially in a book targeted to young readers.
Still the book on the whole is funny. The aspects of mental health are small details in the plot that I think could have been handled better but aren't developed enough to affect the plot too much. I do like the fun way of presenting silly names as a way to show why you shouldn't make fun of people and also showing not to take yourself too seriously.
