Amazing that these Holmes books were written 125+ years ago, and they still entertain!!

I loved this book. I bought this book out of curiosity and when I started reading I found that I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed this book and found that my school library carries the complete adventures of Sherlock Holmes and I hope to read it soon.

After reading the adventures followed by the Memoirs, it is nice to see the character returned to the long-form story. This was a particularly good one and is understandably one of the most recognizable stories of Sherlock Holmes.

I enjoyed reading this book. I really liked the story and I did not want to put the book away. I also really liked the way Sherlock Holmes explains his way of thinking.

An enjoyable enough read. Very pleasant storytelling. My only problem was that most of the supposed to be big revelations were rather expected (or maybe I have read this before but have lost all (and I mean all) recollection of it).

My first literary experience with Holmes and Watson and I was left a little disappointed. While overall I found it an easy and enjoyable read there were parts of the mystery that were predictable to me and left me wanting more. I loved the characterization of Holmes and found the description of the setting to be entirely captivating, but did not care for the shifting narration of Dr. Watson. There were definitely moments of dread and suspense but they were slight and far between. I'm looking forward to reading more classic mysteries so that I might have a better point of reference.
