First two books were amazing. This one was very repetitive and anticlimactic.

I'd actually give this 3.5 stars. It wasn't quite as good as the previous two, but still great reading. Thoroughly predictable but in a good way.

Very satisfying ending to the Blood of Eden trilogy.

This book begins at the lowest point in the storyline, with Zeke having been Turned into a vampire but Allie has yet to find out just how bad things really are. Of course, things turn out well with an interesting twist to how the world will be saved after all.

3.5 stars. I really loved book one of this series, it was SO good. It was definitely the best book of the three for me. I really don't remember too much of book 2, and book 3 was more of the same. While I didn't remember book 2, I felt fine starting out here (which again reflects for me that there wasn't a ton going on). I was not really surprised as events unfolded. Just never quite connected or clicked ... I mean I did still like reading it, it was still good, just not the 5 star that book one was.

Spoiler Damnit, Kanin.
Good way to conclude the series.
I'm still floored by the character development with Jackal though.

For whatever reason I began to dislike Zeke in the previous book he just seemed like a child and the end twist was predictable. But I have been looking forward to this book so here it is finally.

I'm sad to say I was disappointed with this book as a finale. I mean obviously there was the happily ever after and there was the whole hunting down Sarren plot line, "bleeding heart" story as Jackal put it. In fact I think after the previous book Jackal is my favourite character especially since he has some very good points about being a vampire and how they could be whoever they wanted be that monster or a hero. The book was kind of just dull for me, the last couple of books have been so. It seemed to drag on, one fight after another, trying not to be an evil mass murdering monster, sickly sweet romance etcetera.
The only character I felt was real throughout this book was Jackal, Zeke was there I mean we always heard about him not wanting to be a monster, Kanin was barely audible and the shadow in the background who only cropped up to give Allison advice or to tell Jackal and Allie to stop bickering. Allie was the one who being the main character I should remember most about but she struck me as the most empty (not sure of the word I'm looking for here) character. Jackal was the only one who seemed to show personality in his actions and humour.
I adored this series and I adore many of Julie Kagawa's novels but this book was disappointing, the plot was drawn out and the climax didn't really spike my emotions. It's sadly a quite negative review here. I hope others find it better than I did...

It ends.

Jackal, Kanin, Allie, and Zeke are just so great. Especially Jackal. He's like my favorite thing EVER. EVVVERRR.. I could quote every single thing he says. I would gladly go pledged my support to his cause if our world were overrun by a virus and everyone was taken out.

This series is really superb. It's action jam packed, has amazing characters and dialogue, and just flies by. I will gladly reread these someday again.

Spoiler I am sad Kanin died, but I totally am at peace with it and know why it had to happen. Also, don't know how I feel about Zeke becoming a vampire and how easily he broke Sarren's compulsion, but I also am at peace with this decision and see that it needed to happen so that Allie and him could be together forever and always.

WTB a companion series with Jackal in Europe! Rofl.. seriously though. Make this happen, Julie.

Anything Ms. Kagawa writes is just awesome. I'll be eagerly awaiting Talon so I can keep reading her stuff!

I highly recommend you go check this series out. It is post apocalyptic, bleak, and has some adult content in my opinion; but despite being a darker read it's totally worth it and still has some moments to keep it light enough to just devour. This isn't a normal vampire read. It's a different take, and a good one. GAH! I am sad for this to end, but happy to see where else Julie goes from here with her writing. I can't quite pin point why this isn't a fully 5 star read for me.. perhaps just certain little things. I'd say it's a 4.5 for me, but not quite exactly perfect. But still great!!

Allison Sekemoto has been though a lot in the past year. From being a Fringer, always hungry and scared of being caught, to being Turned, because her only options were Vampireism or death. Allie has also lost the boy who saw her as more than just a monster but as someone worthy of love. With an evil and psychotic Sarren on the loose, Allie along with blood brother Jackal and Master Vampire Kanin have to stop him before he releases a virus which ends the world as we know it.

The Forever Song is the final book in the Blood of Eden series and one I’ve been waiting on for a while. I’ve come to really enjoy Ms. Kagawa’s characters and had high expectations for just how this series was going to come to an end.

After the events in The Eternity Cure, Allie has had enough. Trying to be a vampire Kanin’s way just isn’t working and her heart just can’t take being broken any further. Embracing the cold vampire monster inside seems to be working out well for Jackal and it would certainly save Allie from having to feel how she does at the moment. I like how much Allie has grown since the start of the series. She’s always been street-smart but she’s not invincible despite her vampireism. She is strong yet fragile, caring yet maintains the ability to be clinically detached when she has to. She does at times let her heart reign over her brain but that ability to not be ruled by logic is what sets Allie apart from other vampires. That said, there were times when I felt she was a little to angsty and I never believed Allie would let her personal problems over shadow the big picture.

Allie, Jackal and Kanin make an odd little group but they work well together. Kanin the father who has grown weary after having to listen to his children squabble with the other two needing someone to argue with either for entertainment purposes or so they don’t dwell on just how much of a suicide mission they are on. They definitely put the “fun” in “dysfunctional” but they are a family, not from birth but their blood connects them. The three being together on their mission and their interactions were a highlight of this book.

There are a lot of surprises and some not-so surprising revelations in this book. I’m very glad I read it. The dark and creepy atmosphere was spot on and is one of the things which is consistently amazing throughout the series. I felt like the ending was a little too neat and somewhat unrealistic considering everything that had led up to that point. Jackal remains one of my favourite characters and it was nice to see his development over the three books.

If you’re a fan of the Blood of Eden series, I strong recommend this book. It’s nice to spend more time with characters and be drawn into the dark and mysterious world Julie Kagawa has created. This series is one of my favourite vampire ones in the Young Adult realm with the monsters being truly horrifying and the romance being heartfelt. This series is the first I’ve read by Kagawa and I enjoy her writing style. I’ll definitely be reading more by her in the future.
