Picked this up at Backlist Books in Massilon. How I failed to notice a shop specializing in SF and fantasy this close to home until now I don't know.

This is a collection of David Drake's humorous writing. Yeah, I didn't know he had any either. Little of this is laugh out loud funny, but all of it is at least somewhat amusing. Humor is clearly not Drake's thing, which will surprise his readers not at all. But he does have a sense of humor, if a bit dark and twisted at times, and he displays it to good effect here. I've read one of these pieces before, some of the very first Magic fiction was an anthology with big name authors, including one David Drake writing about the Goblin Balloon Brigade. Yes, there was a time when MTG fiction wasn't crud churned out by whichever freelancer was willing to work for the smallest paycheck.
