This review appears on my blog: https://confessionsofabookwormweb.wordpress.com/2016/04/29/book-review-none-like-him/

This book is so good and convicting, every Christian woman needs to read this book. It was an enriching read and I learned a lot, and realized there are things in my life that I need to change.

This book deals with 10 attributes of God: infinite, incomprehensible, self-existent, self-sufficient, eternal, immutable, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent and sovereign and how they are only true of God. Wilkin also showed how we as sinful human beings try to to make these attributes true of ourselves. She then ended the chapter by showing how we as Christians should view these attributes and what we can do to try to not fall into the trap of trying to make ourselves like God.

As I mentioned before, this was super convicting, especially since Jen Wilkin was so transparent and every time she mentioned some small sin that she had committed, I was convicted because I have been guilty of the exact same things. Two thoughts that constantly went through my head were "Shots fired!" and "Lord, thank you for being patient with me when I've committed these sins that never seemed like sin." I am so glad that I have been saved by the redeeming blood of Christ.

I enjoyed how this book was theologically rich, yet it was a quick read. It was only about 175 pages and I flew through it. I definitely want to go back sometime and spend more time going through this book and work through the study questions at the end of each chapter.

This book deserves 5/5 Stars because it was convicting and enriching. It also taught me some things about God that I often tend to forget.

Thanks to NetGalley and Crossway publishing for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I have had this on my to-read shelf for so long, and I am so glad I finally got around to reading it.

We often hear about how alike we are to God, but we seldom hear about the ways that He is different from us. Jen Wilkin concisely and biblically explains how that shouldn’t be a bad thing- it’s exactly the opposite.

I ended this book in awe of the unique characteristics of our Creator, and it certainly something to worship Him over.

This book is great for new believers as well as a reminder/eye opener for seasoned believers. I’m definitely planning to re-read. Highly recommended!

The book was very easy to read, and jam packed with truth. It pointed me to Christ, pointed out my limited nature and drew me towards our limitless God. I appreciated how rooted in Scripture it was, with plenty of personal anecdotes as illustrations. I especially loved how the ending tied together the attributes in Psalm 139.

I’ve been reading this book gradually over the last couple months, and I’ve really enjoyed reading it slowly enough to chew on what I’m reading. Wilkin does a great job of breaking down each attribute of God and providing Biblical evidence for each. I didn’t write answers for the questions at the end of each chapter, but I appreciated that the opportunity was there. Overall, this was a solid book, and I’ll likely return to it at some point to relearn about God and who He is.

I love this book! I really helped me see that some of my biggest points of frustration stem from trying to take on characteristics that only God can have. I can’t wait to read the next book about what qualities we share with God (“In His Image”).

I love Jen Wilkin’s work. She makes me see things in a new light. She delves deep to help me understand the Scriptures. In this book she describes 10 attributes of God that are different from humans. Her summation pulls it all together with Psalm 139:
“He searches, knows, discerns — omniscient.
He is behind and before — eternal.
He is beyond human reckoning — incomprehensible.
He is near and far, high and low — omnipresent.
His right hand sustains — self-sufficient.
He creates life — self-existent.
He does wondrous works — omnipotent.
He ordains each day — sovereign.
He is immeasurable — infinite.
He endures — immutable.”

Although this book is only about God's characteristics, you can read Jen Wilkin's other book In His Image, which discusses the characteristics we share with God and written in a similar structure.
