This….wasn’t what I was expecting. But also? Now that I think back on what I know of DC comics and how things tend to go in Gotham, this is kind of what I would expect to see. It’s been really interesting diving into all these new retcon’ed backstories for DC’s villains. Victor Fries is one that I didn’t really know anything about other than the basics.
I think the thing that I enjoyed the most about this graphic novel was the slow transition from a love story to a tragedy. While this wasn’t my favorite graphic novel I’ve ever read, I did think that the author handled Nora’s illness, her mental health, and her suicidal thoughts, in a really thoughtful way. They didn’t pull any punches with any of it and I really appreciated that. So, with that said, I’m giving this 3.25 stars.
Graphic: Death, Mental illness, Panic attacks/disorders, Suicidal thoughts, Terminal illness, Medical content, Dementia, Grief, and Suicide attempt
Moderate: Body horror, Chronic illness, and Death of parent

My least favorite of the DC Young Adult graphic novels so far. It was very Romeo and Juliet-esque, but didn't have me actually caring that much about the characters.
Graphic: Suicidal thoughts and Terminal illness
Moderate: Death, Suicide, and Grief
Minor: Animal death
