4.5 stars, bumped up because the ending is so perfect
Claudie Arseneault is an amazing writer who consistently creates queer characters I want to hang out with and fantasy worlds I want to live in, despite their dangers. The ways she develops relationships between characters and the ways those characters come together to upend power structures are wonderfully addictive. There's also baking, magic, and puns. Reading this book was such a joy!

I liked all the rep (especially the fat / genderfluid/ and aro rep). I liked the French/Quebec world setting. And that's unfortunately about it.

Dnf, I did not actually read to full synopsis before starting this and one of the mc's being a police officer really did not work for me. I also did not really vibe with the kind of modern, but not really setting.

I really enjoyed this book! The characters are fun and inclusive, the plot is interesting, and I just enjoyed the vibe.
