I finished this series much too quickly and now I have to wait until November...
Not a full review because this is genuinely just a pleasure read. I just like to go along where the author takes us and not try too hard to solve it (in my mind it just takes the fun out of reading it!). Now to start the next period mystery series!
4/5 stars.

I keep thinking that Sherry Thomas cannot outdo herself in this series, and she keeps proving me wrong. I cannot give away much about this masterful locked door, twist filled delight except to say I adored every minute. Lord Ingram is in fine fettle here, as is Charlotte, and I just cannot wait to see where this series goes next.

I loved the complexity of this novel. There were so many different components to the mystery and the way that Thomas was able to bring everything together was simply a masterpiece. The romance is extremely slow burn but it was finally coming to a head in this book, making it all that much more deserved and satisfying. Seeing Inspector Treadles's growth over the course of the series has also been so rewarding, Thomas is just so good at making her characters grow in a realistic and believable way. I cannot wait for the next installment!

A nice balance in this one between investigation and character development. Know the Olivia story line is important to advance but it felt kinda superfluous.

An excellent addition to the Lady Sherlock series. I love all of the character development, and as always, the story was engaging and interesting. I listened to this on audio, as I have with all the others, and it was perfectly narrated by Kate Reading - as ever. My one note is that this story suffers a little bit from character bloat; it got a little difficult to keep people straight near the end.
Still, it was a delightful read!

Absolutely adore this series, especially the listening to the audiobooks narrated by Kate Reading. This was one of my favorite books in the series so far, with a little hotter romance (sadly no tumbles in the feather bed) and a locked room mystery.
