A smart little novella to fill you in on a few details in case you'll be going to the Edinburgh book festival next year.

For a short book, Rizzio manages to show just how difficult and scary it would have been to be the ill-fated Mary Queen of Scots and therefore the people in her immediate circle. The murder of David Rizzio is still a shocking event in our nations history; this book displays the reasons for this perfectly- a veritable stab by each senator. Mary Queen of Scots is often the focus point in this period, to have the focus on Rizzio gives a new spin on a well known history. Highly enjoyable short book perfect for any historian!

I’m a big fan of Mina’s “Conviction” and sequel “Confidence” so I thought I’d try her historical fiction.
