Again a solid 4 star rating from me. There are some clumsy points in the story so far, but this one evolves around the kids of Martin and Gwen.

As i don't want to spoil the story, here are at least some character informations.

While Brewster is a bit of a flat character, Mattie really surprised me in her ways of thinking. Other than that Sid and Gilbert did quite of a show this time.

Jimmy is missing in this book, but maybe i am the only one liking him.

The Brits annoy only a little bit which is great.

Overall, i got what i expected from the series. There are some funny moments, some life lessons and a superb last pupil/teacher talk in the very last chapter. 5 stars for Mattie here.

Finally, as this seems to be the last part of the series, here my short rating from best to worst:

  1. An unwelcome quest In my opinion the best book in the whole series. Cool story (if you are a MMO freak like me), Jimmy makes a good personal progress, and the author finally learned his trade.
  2. Fight an flight Dragons... And a medieval setting. Worked for me.
  3. The vexed generation Great characters and very funny moments. Missed Jimmy a bit though.
  4. Off to be the wizard First book in the series. The author had a bit of clumsy writing style, the story had a huge break in it and was quite lenghty but still a good fourth place.
  5. Out of spite, out of mind While half 3/4 of the book where very good, the end absolutely destroyed it for me. Also i cannot stand the two Brits and now they were four of them. To many timelines. Tiring book.
  6. Spell or high water The author learned quite a bit how to maintain a storyline. But this whole Atlantis and Brit thing just killed the book for me. The best part was the story about Jimmy. The rest quite turning off.

All in all a nice series, with a lot of funny characters and moments. Though the Brits killed quite a lot for me. I wish there would be another one where Philip would meet a not so stupid and bland Brit. Thumbs up for Martin and Gwen and their children. Well done.

The series is starting to get a little old, nothing new or fresh.

This is book 6 of the Magic 2.0 series, and in my opinion, the best book in the series. It is delightfully funny and interesting. It brings in two new characters: Mattie and Brewster, who have been raised in by Gwen and Martin in the normal world completely apart from the "magic" world and characters of the previous books, until the "magic" world intrudes into their lives and the rollicking adventure begins. If you liked any of the previous books you will absolutely enjoy this one. The narration by Luke Daniels is, as always, excellent. The story is well told, with some fun and unexpected turns and events.
