Forced, desperate to be relevant, and riddled with plot holes.

I loved how this finished up the series and I'm glad the author took his time to get this last book right. I hated the epilogue hence the loss of a star. There were a lot of ways the author could have simplified the "what happened next" without introducing the new characters he did. All in all, I'm really glad I picked up the series even though this isn't a genre that I would normally be into.

It's with a super heavy heart that I have to DNF the final book in one of my favorite trilogies. I have been reading and waiting for the final book in Cronin's "The Passage" since around 2011. At over 50% finished, and that is reading on and off since last November, I am setting this aside with the hopes of finishing one day.

I think the problem (for me anyway) is that soooooo much time has passed between the middle novel ("The Twelve") and the final novel, that the characters aren't as recognizable, therefore making it difficult for me to care about them as their final chapter unfolds.

I will pick it up again, it just might be awhile. :(

This book started out very slowly for me and I had trouble remembering what had happened in the 2nd book since it had been a few years since I read it. About halfway through it got much better and I thought the ending to this trilogy was satisfying. I would like to re-read from the beginning some day.

Overall I enjoyed the book and especially learning more about Fanning.
