I loved that we get a chance to see Amelie get her happy ending. I also loved Dante; I love a man with a protective nature. I like the plot of the book, but I felt like more could have been added to ramp up the tension and flesh out the story. I know it was meant to be a novella, but it had enough potential to be a full novel.

I realised that I find it incredibly boring if a story focuses around fashion....

This is the first story I’ve read by Tessonja Odette, but it definitely won’t be the last! Her writing is so whimsical, the amount of detail is perfect, not overwhelming or lacking in any regard. I fell in love with Amelie and her betrothed right from the beginning, and each obstacle they must overcome makes me love them a little more.

The only caveat I will make is that it does give away some details about her Fair Isle Trilogy which takes place 22 years before this story. I have not read it yet and plan to read it next, so unsure if this standalone gives away any major spoilers or not

*3.5 stars. Amelie Fairfield deserves her own full length novel. While this was good, it wasn’t long enough in my opinion to develop the relationship and work through her issues surrounding love. If so, she maybe would have been able to tell her husband she loves him before they get married not after!

TW : Past Abusive Relationship (Talked about a lot), harassment

Thank you to the author, Tessonja Odette, for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book is part of the Arranged marriages of the fae series that features a bunch of different authors, most are on KU or will be but there is one or two that aren’t going to be up there.

This review is going to have spoilers for the Fair Isle Trilogy as I can’t find a way to not mention some details.

This book dives back in the world of The Fair Isle Trilogy and focuses on the sister of the main character in that series. This takes place twenty years later where Amelie Fairchild is trying to grow her fashion career on her own without the help of her sister, the Queen of the Fire Court. After the events of the Fair Isle Trilogy, Amelie has sworn off love and dedicates every moment to her career but when she gets caught up in a scandal that could ruin her chances of expanding into the human fashion world, she accepts her sister’s help that provides her an arranged marriage to the Prince of the Human world in an attempt to forge peace between the countries and save her career. When the “Prince” reveals he’s not the prince at all while on their engagement tour, Amelie has to deal with trying not to fall in love with her not fake fiancée, espionage, and her own healing heart.

I absolutely love this world. I have read every book so far that has taken place in it and it always gives me butterflies and cozy vibes. The world is super easy to dive into even if you’ve never read the Fair Isle Trilogy or the Entangled with Fae and felt super fledged out even in this short novella. This is honestly a great place to start with Tessonja Odette’s books if you’ve never read anything by her as it gives you a taste of her writing style.

The romance in this book was adorable, it’s so much more than just romance as Amelie has to break down some trauma she’s been holding onto for twenty years and she has to realize she still deserves love even after what she went through. For a short novella the character development and relationship development in this book is amazing, it doesn’t feel like it’s rush and all of it is well explained and displayed.

I highly recommend this for people who are looking for a short cute romantic fantasy that is very low spice, set in a magical world, and dives into some deep topics about allowing yourself to love and be loved after trauma.
