I really enjoyed this book but just felt like it was a little bit chaotic at times in the plot and some of it just felt a little rushed at times. However, I loved the plot in general because it was so much fun to explore fairy world with the Bloom girls, who of course are such a wonderful group of characters. I did enjoy how the story ended though as it left a good amount of promise for the next book in the series and keeping a sense of suspense at the end.

The characters were really good and the Bloom girls were just the best main characters and discovering fairy land with them was simply wonderful, especially because fairy land was so well written. I loved all the animal companions and fairies as well as they all seemed so magical and wonderful and it was just a delight to read about them. And the villain was perfectly written, she was evil and creepy and just worked so well with the story and I look forward to see what she gets uptight in the next instalment of the series because it will certainly be something diabolical.

The writing was really easy to get through and it was such a delight tp step into the world of the Bloom girls and the fairy world that they discovered. The description was so vivid and I could picture the colourful clothed and creatures that they encountered throughout the book. It was just such a great read and I look forward to continuing the series at some point in the future.

Book source ~ BBNYA Tour

Octavia Bloom is nearly 10 when she discovers a little fairy door in the attic. But that’s not the only secret she discovers.

What a cute read! Octavia is a smart and curious little girl. It sometimes gets her into trouble. But she has her sister to keep her grounded and her cousins, too. However, this fairly door thing? It’s a big deal. Pick up this great middle grade fantasy and follow Octavia as she runs full tilt toward trouble to save her family.

Very cute and exciting read!

This was a cute and exciting book. It had adventure, fantastical lands and beings, and surprising twists! A great read even for adults (especially those who still believe in fairies!)

I received this book to read and review as part of the 2021 BBNYA competition and the BBNYA tours organised by The Write Reads Tour team. All opinions are my own, unbiased, and honest.

This book was such a cute, magical, and quick read, which made it an absolute treat to dive into.

Octavia Bloom and the Missing Key is a magical middle-grade story that features a portal to a magical world, a magical world that needs to be saved, and a bunch of strong female characters who are ready to save the day.

I liked the characters in this book. Octavia Bloom is so curious, and I loved her determination. I also liked her sister and cousins, and I was excited to find out that all of these characters have their own books in the series, which I’m definitely hoping to check out. I also loved how important family is in this book, and I’m looking forward to learning more about the Bloom family when I read the rest of this series

I also liked how magical this book is. Fairyland sounds like a magical place, and I would love to visit it someday. I liked the battle of good versus evil, even if it was a bit cliché. I liked the animals in this world; I also liked that flowers played an important role in the storyline in this book.

There were parts of this book that felt a bit rushed, and I found myself rereading some parts to make sure I didn’t miss anything because it felt like the story jumped. I think this book could have been a little bit longer, just to provide a bit more transition between scenes.

I loved how quick of a read this was. It’s definitely the kind of book you can read in one sitting, and it was enjoyable enough that I could have easily binged the entire series in a weekend.

Overall, if you like magical middle-grade stories, you should check out this book. It’s full of adventure, and it’s a great way to spend the afternoon.

I adored the settings, both the big old castle full of mysterious rooms like the dusty attic, and beautiful Fairyland, where everything sounds absolutely amazing. The fairies with their beautiful wings, the colourful unicorns and especially the delicious food. The relationships between the Bloom girls are great, cousins and sisters squabbling and supporting each other, and I loved the sweet animal companions. This is such a short book but a lot happens, though sometimes it happens a little too quickly! I really enjoyed it and I feel like there is plenty more excitement to come. I'm looking forward to reading more in the series.

Octavia Bloom and the Missing Key is a great book. I like it when the fairy door just magically appears! It's very mysterious how Otto needs to be saved and he appears in Octavia's dream. I'm really looking forward to reading the next book.
