I liked this book. It made my heart sing in places and made me respect Amy Poehler quite a bit more. I probably should mention that I wouldn't describe myself as an Amy Poehler fan. I've never seen Parks and Recreation, and have only seen a few clips of SNL on YouTube. You'd definitely get more out of this if you were more familiar with what she does. I'm more interested in her work having read this book though. I preferred it to Bossypants, although that might be because of the audiobook medium.

More like 3.5/5. I enjoyed it a lot, but each chapter felt a little disconnected. Some A+ quotes though, my personal favourites:

"It takes years as a woman to unlearn what you have been taught to be sorry for." (p.65)

"I didn't take my job home with me, except for the occasional nightmare where I would wake up in a cold sweat and remember I never brought table 14 their Diet Coke" (p.208)

There's a ton of name dropping in this book.

It seems to be mostly for information's sake, not attention-seeking, she name-drops non-famous people as well, but holy crap you get the first and last name of everyone.

Would highly recommend the audiobook. You get all the emphasis that would get lost in translation.

I listened to the audiobook version and loved it - I laughed and cried. So nice to learn more about Amy's life, only having known her as Leslie Knope!

Yes, Please is a collection of stories/vignette of Amy's life and career. The stories are light, fluffy and amusing. Unfortunately, there was a lack of deep-belly-laughs.

I adore Amy Poehler and listening to her read her book was great fun. She also had some wonderful guest readers, and there was clearly a lot of work that went into making the audio book its own vibrant experience. That being said, the content was maybe a little slim for me, but I still adore her and want to hear everything she has to say.
