I have largely positive but some mixed emotions after reading this. I deeply appreciate Brubaker's effort to expand upon the individual stories of minor but recurring characters within the broader world of Criminal. I also thought each part, particularly Danica's, was unique (relative to the other stories we've encountered so far) and, despite being short, had reasonably partitioned emotion and plot. However, given the complexities of the characters, limiting their stories (which to be fair, I'm not entirely sure that this is true) to mere vignettes felt unintentionally limiting. I would have loved for each of the characters to be expanded upon, particularly as they each brought some diverse characteristics not yet embodied in previous characters to the table.

Story of friendship, the legacy of fathers, and revenge told in three parts from three different perspectives. Two childhood friends of criminal bigshots fall out over...wait for it...a woman. Not that she sits idly by. No, she's back and looking to settle her own scores.

Alos serves as an origin story for a thus far peripheral character in the series, the bartender of the criminal bar.

Three interconnected stories, each harsh, dark and unhappy. If I can continue to pick these up cheaply, they are deliciously malevolent little tales.
