Holy moly was this book truly incredible. This book is the child of The Handmaids Tale and The Last of Us. I would not recommend if you do not like gore or body horror, because this book has more than its fair share (I don’t think this should be considered young adult lol). I’m so glad I finally read this book, it has easily taken one of my top spots.

Andrew Joseph White is a genius. I adored these characters and their strength and love and … just all of it. A bloody, beautiful book.
Can’t wait to see what he writes next!

Need to write a whole essay on this book, but I read it in two hours at work during lunch + prep with my jaw on the floor the entire time. What a masterpiece.

I really enjoyed the book. However, the ending was super rushed and it didn't have a happy ever after. It made me think, okay where's the epilogue, where's the next part. There are too many questions left unanswered.

I rarely, if ever, give 5 stars to a book. However, this felt like all of my rage at the religious upbringing I was forced into, coming to fruition. Every moment of being in Benji’s shoes was agonizing and horrific, but felt like everything I never knew I needed.

Add to that a heavy dose of gore, horror, and found family, and you have a near perfect book.
