I was the reaper, a dead and ominous thing, while also being a girl who slept with a stuffed bat and kept lip gloss in my pocket.

ARC READER / slight spoilers for Ghost

Kat Blackthorne delivers in the second of the Halloween Boys books, Dragon. It tells the tale of Onyx Hart, the half dragon / half vampire hybrid and his journey, along with Blythe, Ames, and Wolf.

Kat expands on the amazing world the starts in Ash Grove. It’s a beautiful and dark story of the line between love and obsession, of finding out who you are and who you can be, and finding your place in the world.

Kat is an amazing writer, and I devoured the book while listening to Onyx’s playlist. Read all the trigger warnings before you begin reading!

Well done, Kat! Can’t wait for Wolf’s story this summer.

Came for Onyx and Blythe, stayed for Onyx and his relationship with Wolfgang Jack as well as Ames.

Also I’m reading this after seeing the Barbie movie and I’m wondering if Onyx is the type of man to sing that matchbox twenty song at me.

Dragon, the second book in this series is so much better than the first one. Maybe it’s because I enjoy Onyx over Ames or because I felt the lines weren’t as second hand embarrassing as the first. Regardless, it slapped and I have zero clue what the plot was at all. There were vampires and a vampire king and some more vampires. Than some blood and sex and surprisingly somnophilia.

I enjoyed this book so much better than the first one. I think that this book establishes the polyamory really well and builds up the relationships between all the Halloween Boys (except Judas rip) perfectly. I ended up fully loving Ames in Dragon as opposed to in Ghost. Onyx is currently my favourite of the boys so it was great to finally get his perspective. I really enjoyed Ames’s perspective as well and I love that he got major character development which honestly made him a lot better than in Ghost. This book also made me fall for Wolfgang Jack too because I absolutely loved the Halloween Boys together. Especially, the relationship Onyx has with Wolfgang Jack and how he discussed the love he has for both Wolf as well as Ames. Best part of this whole series to be honest.

Judas was also there and he reminds me of that Tuxedo Mask meme where all the sailor scouts go “but you didn’t do anything?” I love this man even if I have zero clue what he does for the plot! Update: Judas is my favourite of them all I love how he just doesn’t show up and when he does gives absolutely nothing :D

Overall, so much better than the first with stellar character development and all the good smut we love. This book actually sold me on why choose, gothic, and dark paranormal romance. Like Kate I love you so much you got me hooked on polyamory fr.
