3.5 The beginning was super slow but overall I enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed Mogget.

A fabulous performance by Tim Curry and a book that holds up very well to re-reading.

I absolutely loved Mogget! His character cracked me up.

My two complaints. One, I wish the “Charter” magic was explained more. It felt like we were dumped into this world without really understanding what was going on or what certain things were. Second, Sabriel and Touchstone seemed more like acquaintances to me. And then BOOM! They were in love?! What?! When did this happen?

All in all, this was a great fantasy book with phenomenal writing! Excited to read the rest of the series!

Recommended to me by a friend, and this has remained my all-time favourite YA Fantasy book, even now. Garth Nix's characters and worldbuilding are superb, and his ideas and interesting and original. Mixing a perfect blend of a main character who struggles to find herself in a world she knows almost nothing of, the magic and vivid imagery of death, along with a fun cast of characters and an interesting villain, Sabriel is definitely a classic and a must-read for all fans of YA Fantasy.

This book brings back so much childhood to me - I read it awhile ago, possibly during 7th/8th grade. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Reread this multiple times, every time still so excellent! Enjoyed the audio book on a road trip, narrated by none other than Tim Curry.
