The Queer Art of Failure is one of those rare academic books that not only offers a paradigm-shifting central inquiry (how can we free ourselves of hegemony through failure?) but is also filled with all sorts of deviations and branches sprouting from that central inquiry that are almost equally engaging. The troubles that Halberstam is capable of sitting within this text are remarkable, as is their ability to fluidly move between "high" and "low" theory. Academic work CAN matter, and Halberstam shows one avenue for academic work that succeeds and fails but fails in interesting ways, which is perhaps even more important.

troppo difficile. è il millesimo tentativo ma non ho la voglia e la pazienza di leggerlo al momento. farò comunque tesoro dell'introduzione, molto bella. magari nei prossimi anni riuscirò a finirlo.

Read for an upcoming book club! Interesting! Been meaning to read this since I was exposed to an excerpt in college and it gave me a lot to think about (altho I'm still figuring out how I feel). Some things didn't really read to me, but overall very solid and accessible bit of theory!

Couldn’t focus on the academic text at this point, might pick it back up again another time
