Aaaaah, this book, man. I'm a big fan of horror, it's one of my favourite genres, and I love it in all forms. The Dead House isn't scary, but it's unsettling in a way because it makes you think.
I liked that the plot was presented in a series of reports, diary entries and notes instead of just one narrative. It made the story more interesting to me that way, and it also caused you to think about what was real and what wasn't.
I also liked how it played around with whether there was really anything paranormal going on here, or if it was just all in Carly/Kaitlyn's head.
I can't believe this is a debut novel. I just can't. It was so good and kept me so intrigued. I don't want to talk too much of it because I don't want to spoil anything because spoiling it would just be too easy, but man. If you like the spoopies, read this spoopy.

I don't usually do horror - even YA horror - I just can't stand the dark and twisty passages that make you shiver. But this book was very well done and I enjoyed the creepiness...even if I couldn't bring myself to read it at night.
