Loved seeing Violet get her time to shine in this book. Cole kicks things off as acerbic as possible, and Violet rises to the occasion to say “okay wall that’s on you”

Complex characters with a complicated history can only mean one thing: a great slow burn with plenty of tension and spice that you reach out and touch.

Really liked the characters and storyline. Her writing style and character building is on point, but I do wish there was a bit more about the character's background to create even more debt to them. I didn't love the way they met through the internet, but still a cute story.

Forced proximity
Small town
Second chance
Slow burn

I loved Violet and Cole because they are so thoroughly described and Cole has real issues that mess with him, he is truly grumpy. Although I think Billie is one of the best female characters created and takes the cake in this book as a side character

I just think it could have been a shorter book. It’s a slow burn, but it still dwelled in things that weren’t necessary for the plot or character development.

Tropes: Forced Proximity, Kind-of workplace romance. grumpy-sunshine
POV- Duel :)

My favorite of the entire series. I loved Violet and Cole so so much. As the story unfolded I was so engaged I could not put it down. The hike scene had me in tears as so many truths fell out. There was so much growth in Cole as the book progressed. A beautiful story I encourage all to read.

Ahhh tears. This was so good.

I knew when I read [b:Off to the Races|57516722|Off to the Races (Gold Rush Ranch, #1)|Elsie Silver|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1617887354l/57516722._SY75_.jpg|90065212] that Cole definitely had a lot going on under the surface, but oof. It truly hurt to read about all his underlying trauma and PTSD in regard to the war and the way his dad died. The author did an incredible job tackling these tough mental health issues in a way that so real and raw.

I can't decide if I liked the romance between Violet and Cole more, or simply just Cole's journey in overcoming all of his demons. Though really they kind went hand in hand. Violet played a big role in helping him through it all.

Violet was so good for Cole. I loved that she always knew exactly what Cole needed. She didn't coddle or pity him and gave him tough love whenever he needed it.

This was definitely a unique take on a second chance romance. I enjoyed the excerpts at the beginning of their chapters from their chat conversations in the past. I liked how she slowly revealed these glimpses to what exactly went down between them while still progressing the story in the present.

Like in the first book, I also super enjoyed all of the horse stuff lmao. I've never liked horses and might be afraid to ride one, but these books just might change my mind!!

Also, Billie and Cole at the end had me in tears. I still love Billie so much from the first book - she's so intuitive, smart, and caring and it made me emotional when she helped him not only in getting Violet back but also with his fear/trauma around horses.

I can't wait to read the next one though I'm so sad cause I think I'll have read everything by this author after that one?? I'm not ready lol.
