This was a fun, easy-to-read, light and fluffy book. I enjoyed it just fine.

This series is bordering on campy, and the "sex scenes" are more amusing than sexy, but the characters are fun, and the story is entertaining. The villains are dark and dramatic, and we don't quite know how it's all going to work out, although given the nature of these stories, we're fairly sure they will.

This is the perfect story for a long drive [I listened to this on audiobook] or a cottage or long rainy afternoon. It isn't high literature, but it is well-written and lots of fun.

Book two in the trilogy of Lavina Lake and Tobias March. This time they are hunting for a valuable bracelet, the Medusa bracelet and it is worth dying for. A bit more engaging than book one probably because the main characters are developed. It was good to see them learn and grow from the ever closer relationship between Lavinia and Tobias to a budding romance between Emmeline and Anthony and the amusing adventures of Mrs. Chilton and her endless trips to the market for currants. A good amusing read.

Wasn't sure how I'd feel about following the same hero & heroine through three books, but this trilogy worked. I liked each book better than the last! :)

Book 1 - Slightly Shady
Book 2 - Don't Look Back
*be sure to read in order*

Lavinia Lake is continuing on her profession of Inquiry Agent with the occasional help of Tobias March, while they both explore their relationship as well. An old friend approaches her about looking into the death of his wife and at the same time a precious jewel has gone missing. A jewel that's supposed to have powers of hypnotism.

It's an interesting read, the two main characters are great fun and it was fun to read the developing relationship between the two younger characters as well. There was occasionally too much modern attitudes but on the other hand there were also some quite amusing moments with the characters and the science of hypnotism at the time. I did enjoy the read.

Is this brilliant? Not really. Is it great fun. Yes. I love Quick's (or Krentz's) humor, and frequently sarcastic characters.
