I've always been a sucker for books where an outsider tries to dis/prove a legend and ends up in life and death situations. Pangil is one such work of art. Coupled with great illustration and an amazing depiction of the ancient aswangs as (literally) invasive species, this comic book by Aaron Felizmenio is terrifying not only for the viscera-sucking beasts but for the implications of how malleable stories are.
