It was okay. Like the murder mystery part of it was good.
I guess it was specifically the epilogue that bored me. You can tell the epilogue was maybe the bit of fanfiction the author most wanted to write because it was basically just Elizabeth and Darcy talking about their relationship (as if they never had talked about it during their several years of marriage.)
Maybe it's not fair to base my rating so much on the epilogue, but that's how it is. Would've been four stars if the ending hadn't been so unfortunate.

Was pretty long and some of the words flew over my head. I did like the descriptions of nature and the atmosphere though. And soft Darcy moments.

This story is based on Jane Austen's novel, however, it doesn't hold up to the original. The story chooses to focus on some of the least likable characters from P&P and it doesn't even allow the characters to develop. The story tries to add another layer to the original story, but it ultimately fails and so reading it feels like a waste of time.

This was a wonderful use of Jane Austen's beloved characters from Pride and Prejudice! While it is definitely helpful to have read the original novel, James does a good job of summarizing the relevant elements. I enjoyed the mystery and drama, and of course the Austen-esque happy ending .
Minor: Death, Infidelity, and Blood
The title serves as a warning in itself; this is a murder mystery so there are (brief) mentions of blood and death.
