Ya sé, ya sé, les dije que NO iba a leer esta novela, pero acá estoy. No sé por qué leí Leah on the Offbeat, pero bueno. La sinopsis me llamó la atención. Ahora, le doy 3.5 o 4 estrellas... No me decido. No quería leerlo porque, aunque amé Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, no quería saber cómo seguía todo. Para mí, era mágico y significativo que la historia tuviera un final y, a pesar de que esta novela no es necesariamente una secuela ya que no sigue la historia de Simon (sino la de Leah, su mejor amiga), siento que arruiné esa magia para mí. Así que, sí, aunque adoré esta lectura, me arrepiento de haber leído Leah of the Offbeat. Pero eso no es porque piense que no sea un buen libro, sino que es algo ya bastante personal en cómo me llegó Simon y cómo veo los libros en general.

¿Lo mejor de Leah on the Offbeat? LEAH. FUCKING LEAH. Creo que Becky Albertalli es una genia. La admiro muchísimo. Y siento que ha hecho un trabajo INCREÍBLE con Leah Burke (y con Simon, obviamente). Estar en la cabeza de Leah fue simplemente agobiante y siento que muchos van a odiarla, porque es fácil frustrarse con ella. Yo me enojé con ella en repetidas ocasiones y a veces pensaba que muchos lectores no la aguantarían por eso, pero A MÍ ME ENCANTÓ. Leah fue TAN real para mí. Tan honesta con todo y su entera personalidad fue como ver una parte de mí representada en un solo personaje. Y es fue maravilloso. Chicxs, son TAN Leah xD. AMÉ ESTO. Creo que esta fue mi parte favorita del libro, pero todo es muy bueno. Los personajes secundarios, la diversidad y la representación, la trama, todo lo adorable, los diálogos, el humor... TODO. ¡ESTE ES UN LIBRO GRANDIOSO! Además, Leah on the Offbeat explora muchísimos temas, mientras el libro anterior gira alrededor del tema de la orientación sexual nada más. ¡LES RECOMIENDO MUCHÍSIMO ESTA NOVELA! Sin duda la agrego a mis favoritos. BECKY ALBERTALLI NECESITO QUE ME DES UN ABRAZO YA MISMO.

4.5. This was such awesome angsty bi rep, I loved it! (Also, this book was low-key woke? Like in the way that Bring It On the movie is low-key woke?)

I loved the majority of this book, but some parts were a little slow. This gets 3.5 stars because it left me with a giddy happiness I haven’t felt since high school. Accurate portrayals of teenage struggles, and excellent bi representation! Finally!

I will admit I'm not the target audience for this book. But I am a fan of lgbtq books and that's why this was recommended to me. But oof. Right from the start Leah is an awful character, her first line is literally her moaning and preaching the I'm not like other girls shit. She's awful to her mother, horrible to her friends. I get that she has depression but girl still.

Leah on the Offbeat is such a great story - with Leah in the starring role. I just loved everything about this book - even Leah's offstandishness.

This book just felt personal and lovely. It's one of those reads where if you resonate with any of the things about Leah, it'll put you in a mood whether good or bad or whatever. Becky Albertalli just gets it.
