It’s late and because I would rather spend time reading this fantastic series and new-to-me author, here’s my take on it.

It’s sweet, heartfelt (as heartfelt as fae can get) and makes me laugh out loud. A solid five stars!

Thank you, Kitty! It’s exactly what I needed.

This was just really chill and fun. A book where I can turn my brain off and still have a good time.

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

After reading "The Hall of Blood and Mercy, series I was super excited to read the sister series, "Court of Midnight and Deception."

I'm happy to say that the first book didn't dissapoint! "Crown of Shadow," is full of great humor and mystery, just like its sister series is!I

My favorite thing about this book has to be the characters! Leila is such a great heroine. Though she is super funny and loved to get others riled up, she is also super compassionate towards everyone around her. I also really like Skye and Indigo, who work for Leila. They are the kind of friends that you need! As for Rigel, I was doubtful about him at first (he is an assassin after all). However, he grew on me by the end!

Overall I really enjoyed the first book in this series and am excited to continue the rest of the series!

Good!

We see familiar characters and meet new ones in this introduction to a new series. Leila is fierce, determined and incredibly reluctant - a great combination when faced with the machinations of the Night Court.

Loving Leila as a protagonist but found the plot wasn't as intense as the previous series. I just wasn't on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen.

3.5 really. It felt like a build-up to a longer story and was kinda boring most of the time- almost nothing happened except for the beginning and end. The entire middle was kinda like a flat line to me, but it was a quick read.

Snappy and fun

I enjoy the sarcastic, dry banter Shea writes for her characters. While the story and its beats are predictable, the premise for this series is fun and I enjoy reading about Leila wreaking havoc in her new fae Court.
