A really enjoyed this book. I teach the first chapter every year and had never read further. Some perspectives seems very detached from each other - I kind of felt Colm perspective was added in as an afterthought even though I really liked his perspective a lot (it made the story feel a little poorly structured). Also Ruán and Emma's relationship seemed a little rushed too. I mo thuairim, the main characters don't have enough one to one interaction for their relationships to seem authentic. Colm and Ruán meet up at the end seemed more random than earned and Colm's sexuality seems like a last second addition. I did really enjoy reading it and thought the scenes with Lisín's "ghost" very moving.
