When the story opens up we are right back in the midst of the war against the Eutarians. The detailed progression of the relationship between Malachi and Lani from guarded and cold to lifetime mates was perfect. With her usual talent for description, Avet adds twists and turns, keeping the reader interested and on the edge of their seat. That is not to say that the entire book is all doom and gloom. Giving us lust, passion the quest for redemption and our favorite Veilorian Amazons with their unique blend of fierceness and comic relief, the characters are skillfully developed with an easy to follow growth that builds from book to book in this series. Although it could be read as a stand-alone, the building of plot and characters does continue through each book in the series and I would suggest reading them all.

I was provided a copy of the book by BTS eMag for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review – all conclusions are my own responsibility.
