A friends to lovers story that I didn't totally hate?? ?I liked this book for the most part.
Anyways, this was good for the first 50% then it just went downhill from there. They were cute in the first half.  First of all the amount of time Wyatt called Hannah "bookworm" was unnecessary like if you were to take a shot every time he called her that you would have alcohol poisoning and probably be close on the verge of death lol.
Second, I'm not a big fan of the whole "girl gives herself a makeover and now the guy is into her" trope. He did like her pre makeover but his feelings got amplified once she started changing her looks and the type of clothes she started wearing and I didn't like that. I'm a big believer in the saying that someone should like you the way you are, you shouldn't have to change yourself for someone to like you. (Unless you have serious toxic traits/red flags or something)
Third of all there was some things that simply made me cringe. Overall it wasn't the best thing I ever read but it wasn't the worst thing so that's still a win.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD

This book makes me believe that you CAN show characters falling in love instead of just telling us they love each other. That is one of my BIGGEST complaints with romance books, the author will write it in a way where the characters “love each other”  but not show us how they got there. Over a month or so of existing near each other where we only see them interacting a few times makes it hard to believe. but this book to me at least seems to take a span of like 2-3 months and yes we don’t see the whole time but it goes from around June /July to September at least I’m pretty sure but i might be wrong

Books like, icebreaker, a million kisses in your lifetime, the flatshare(a better love is blind tbh), all rhodes lead here show the love growing between two characters well.

this has just turned into a rant about authors not showing how the character fall in love well which don’t get me wrong i do enjoy books that have that “problem” it’s just less believable.

okay anyway enjoyed this book idk if i enjoyed it more then That Kind of Guy but i will be reading in your dreams holden rhodes next i think so.

This book is my first and last (lol) 5-star romance of the year. I've read A LOT of romance books in 2022 and, even though most of  the time I have a great time reading them, it is hard for me to fall in love with one. There's always something that doesn't do it for me or that throws me completely off at some point in the story. When I read That Kind Of Guy I thought "that might be it, 5 stars", but it didn't click. Although I have to say that I loved that book. After reading the sinopsis for this one, I had the feeling. Reading it was amazing, the overall message of the personal evolution of Hannah had me sobbing because I understood her so badly. The notion of being shy but still wanting to be SEEN... I think that might be me lmao. And Wyatt? omg, he was incredible and treated Hannah so right. Literally crying. They were the cutest couple. Besides, the side plots of the story were hilarious. However, I do have to day that the way Hannah dealt with the "changing the store" plot wasn't the best.

This was cute, but the ending really left a sour taste in my mouth.

You know r/AmItheAsshole? How there's NTA, YTA, NAH, etc.? The third act conflict had me feeling like ESH. (everyone sucks here.)
I thought Wyatt was in the wrong for asking her to up and leave to travel the world with him when she *just* got the bookstore how she wants it (like... let her enjoy that for a lil bit, damn! it's her passion!) and I thought it was out of character and shitty for Hannah to agree to go. I just didn't believe it was a good solution to their stuff or that they would do that IRL.

Otherwise it was fast paced and nothing to write home about. Lots of praise kink which I loved so if that's your thing, voila.

This was ADORABLE. So many sweet moments between Hannah and Wyatt, so many moments when I laughed out loud (the orc erotica got me right on page one), and a very steamy and enjoyable romance. The only thing that kept this from being a higher rating for me were some poorly edited moments and a number of typos that did pull me out of things a little bit. Still, I enjoyed it a lot!
