I loved it! The banter was top-tier, the characters were excellently written and well fleshed out. The steam was absolutely steaming and I loved the ending!!! This book is slept on but it was beautiful. I 100% recommend.

I read this book after watching the movie, with Gabrielle Union. The movie did all the supposedly romantic things, including changing Darcy from a "Miranda Bailey" to tall, statuesque model and pregnacy being the reason they stay together.
The book is better, in my humble opinion, and made the main character a more relatable person. If it was possible, the movie needs to be remade, possibly as a limited series, allowing for better characterization of the various facets the story.
The movie truncated the story in such a way it felt uninspiring. Tia Williams is an author that, at least in this book, was able to write a story that felt real.

I downloaded as a beach/vacation read and simply expected to like it. But I thoroughly enjoyed it...well written, easy ready with characters you want to know.

Wow I REALLY need to start reading the description of books before I jump in. Overall was not set up for success because I don’t like an age gap trope but the twist at the end made me SO ANGRY. A lot of the descriptions felt dated and forced cool, overall just not a fan

The Perfect Find
I initially checked this book out after seeing trailers for the Netflix movie with Gabrielle Union, since I am a big “book first” person. The trailers look like a typical romcom with a predictable plot and storyline, so I wasn't expecting anything hugely noteworthy. I should have known better because that's often the exact type of book that totally sucks me in, and Tia Williams did just that. I was fiercely committed to these characters within the first few chapters. Even though it was leading me down what felt like a very predictable path, there were complexities in the storyline that kept me interested in even the minor characters. I will say I had a hard time picturing and distinguishing between Elodie and Billie, and I wondered if they may have been better off as a singular character, but otherwise I appreciated the layers in which Williams brought in supporting personalities.
Even though I predicted much of the ending plot, I liked the way in which it was delivered. We knew Jenna wasn't going to end up with Brian, but not the way their last interaction would go. We knew that Jenna and Eric were endgame, but not that she was going to have his child and then NOT TELL HIM. I couldn't believe what I was reading but somehow loved every second, though I was left wondering wtf her plan was if they hadn't run into him at a park??? But okay. There was so much that was not realistic and not believable, but it was balanced with the realistic and believable just enough that I was here for it. One of my favorites of my reading year!
