The whiplash I got from seven days in june to this is staggering. It almost feels like two different authors wrote this. But I will give her a pass because this was written a decade before seven days in June and seven days in June is a masterpiece so the glow up is marvelous to see.
I will say, I am not a fan of age gap relationships but occasionally I do come across books that depict them and make very good cases...not enough to change my mind but enough to keep going back to such books. Last year it was little rabbit, this year it is the art of scandal by Regina black. This book however was very weird. I also give a side eye to age gap relationships when the older one is wont to call back to the age of the younger one to demean them in an argument. It's always been very creepy and predatory to me. I also felt weird that the book hinted that Eric falling in love with Jenna was as a result of his mummy issues and the fact that his first sexual encounter when he was a minor was with a woman that was way older than him. It was played off as jokes and lacked the seriousness I thought it deserved. The entire book literally gave me the ick it was weird.

Tia Williams is always such a fun author for me to read - she never misses.
There's something so nostalgic about stories involving fashion magazines in New York City. I love them & I eat it up every time. Jenna is an incredibly lovable character and you can't help but root for her the entire time. Eric feels like such an unrealistic character at times because have you met men at that age?! But I understand the storyline of him maturing at a young age due to his horrible mom. Even though Darcy is the villain, I thought she was such an interesting character. I would love to have another book about her entire story & her rise to wealth in NYC. She helped move the plot along well.
I couldn't wait to see what the ending would be, and I was a little disappointed with it. If I were Eric I would be mad but he remained so cool and understanding. Obviously, you are rooting for this couple but it felt like it all tied up a little to nicely.

Did you have to do it like that? Is the only question I have. It was so deliciously sexy and had me flipping the page for more. I want more of Jenna and Eric!

Or “The Perfect Laugh.” I laughed out loud with nearly every page and found it hard to put this book down. Tia Williams succeeds at inserting contemporary references (ex. Instagram, Facebook, Vine) in a way that doesn’t feel forced.
However, the ending requires some suspension of reality, which I guess is why it’s described as Jenna’s “dream.” I don’t know too many men, especially those who claimed to have been in love as Eric was, who would be ok with missing the first three years of their kid’s life because the mother was hell-bent on having a baby.
Overall, it was a fun read.

I didn't hate it. I didn't love it either. It was simply "meh" and I'll forget all about this book as soon as I finish this sentence.
