I feel like it just fell short in spots she could have elaborated on

Some parts got a little too far fetched but overall a very good read. Some trigger warnings needed due to drugs and violence but a fast read that kept me rooting for Sloan all the way.

i felt interested in this story, i don't expect to re-read this or recommend to anyone. so much content warning, some of it unwarranted. sloan was a character i loved
i hated asa with my entire being (which i guess was the point)
. the story wasn't super predictable which i liked. the ending gave me all the answers i was looking for and it didn't make me cry. over all, my least fav hoover book. possibly my least fav book of the year so far.

I always like to start off saying that my reviews are soley based on my enjoyment while reading the book. A good plot line and great characters are just a major bonus.

Let me start off by saying that I had no intention of picking this book up yesterday but I did and here we are. I read this book in less than 24 hours, that is how addicting I found it to be.

In the beginning Colleen advises that she knows this book is not for everyone and that she wrote it just kind of for herself until fans wanted to read it. I am so glad she loves her fans so much that she published this book for us. It was so different from any other Colleen Hoover book I have read.

The characters were absolutely insane, I am looking at you Asa Jackson, but they were also relatable in certain ways. Sloan was just a young girl who fell in love with an absolute manipulative, toxic, delulu boy (we've all been there) 😪 and feels trapped with no way out. Asa constantly threatens to kill her if she tries to leave him but Sloan can't leave because she needs Asa to keep paying for her autistic brother's medical care since her parents are addicts and can't take care of him or afford his care.

Enter Carter....Luke, the knight in shining armor. Right away, Luke/Carter was a dreamboat, he was funny, charismatic, witty, and obviously attractive. Carter/Luke is an undercover cop, who gets hired by Asa and he is trying to take down Asa's drug dealing ring, only to fall in love with Sloan in the process.

I really liked the storyline for this book and for the most part the story moves pretty fast, and it kept my interest the entire time. I am not going to lie, I was super paranoid and anxious when her and Luke would be sneaking around, while Asa was like a few feet away and I was scared he was going to come out of nowhere (the car scene).

Asa was just absolutely ✨UNHINGED✨. That boy was crazy, and I mean CRAZY. He has the most warped sense of relationships and thinks it's okay for men to cheat because it's their "nature" but women don't have that same nature so when they cheat, they're whores and deserve to die. I know he had a rough childhood, but my boy was just DELULU all around. Especially at the end, homeboy was losing it. WHEW.

This book was really good in my opinion, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since I finished it this morning.
