Interesting world building. Lots of plot twists (which were all fairly predictable but still enjoyable to read). I really felt like there were some pacing issues since there were parts that felt like they dragged on. I also didn’t really feel all that invested in the characters -we didn’t get to spend enough time with any of the side characters for me to form any attachment. Except for Leo whom I love with my whole heart.
I have high hopes for the sequel based on where this one left off I think it could be a very different book so I will be reading.

Be inspired and based on are two different things that I totally misunderstood.

I was expecting a more a fantasy based on our world, but I am a bit annoyed because it's more like any other fantasy book I've read :( Though it really pissed me that a lot of words in supposed Spanish were incorrect. Some names aren't supposed to be names but surnames (Méndez, Cebrián), and oh Matahermano is so wrong. We have a proverb that says "maté a una mosca y me llaman matamoscas", so everytime its "matasomething" it's always in plural. It was so confusing that Andalucía and Galicia were cities insted of regions.
I could complain a lot more, but I'll stop here.

Other than that, there was a lot of plot twist and treachery that I didn't expect. Though sometimes I didn't understand it well because it's so fast-paced.

I have sooo many questions! I liked it, but I am also annoyed by all the shady wannabe moral characters. Ya'll are betrayers! Traitor Traitor Traitor! Ren has no friends, no squad, no one has this girl's back?! I have no idea who is the real protagonist/antagonist in this set up.

It took me a minute to get into it and parts of it were slow. I also found some parts confusing and felt like everything wasn’t always fully explained all the way. But once I got into it the plot was good and lots of twists! I guessed several of them but it was so fun to be proven right and didn’t take anything away from the story at all. Excited to read the second!
