I've been subscribed to Faerie Magazine for a couple of years now. I love the name change!
Though I LOVE the magazine and recommend it to everyone I know, this one wasn't the strongest of the bunch. The theme wasn't my thing, and there were some editing choices that I wasn't fond of. This seems to be a thing with all the Faerie issues, though.

Their photography, first of all. For me, it's inconsistent. There is photography I absolutely adore and think is brilliant. And then there are shots that make me feel as though there's something wrong with my eyes. Like...so many blurry shots. I'm not sure if it was an artistic choice, but it just looks like the photographer should have used a tripod and gotten better lighting. I don't know.

Next up we have font and typeface choices. The Arctic article stood out by how bad it looked. It looked like something a high school senior would have put together for their yearbook. Then there are other articles that used beautiful typefaces. There was an odd poem in this issue. It used suicide as a simile for something and it just was very off-putting and did not keep with the theme and feel of the publication.

I liked the recipes (I always do) and many of the other articles were great. Not the strongest issue, but I'm still looking forward to the next one.
