I can't believe I put off from this book for 2 years :O i tried reading it but i couldnt get into it probably because i wasnt in the mood to read it. I regret deeply for not reading it sooner :( it was amazing very different from any other dystopian book I've read. It's compared to the hunger games and there are tiny similarities but not so much that you think that this is the same as the hunger games. the dystopian is so messed that makes the book so much more interesting that you just wanna know why it's like that and what made it that way.

The characters were interesting and defiant. I love Tris's character and I admire her strength, determination and bravery. Whenever she is down she always manages to get herself back up and not give up. Four was an interesting character I didn't know what to think of him at first, he will make you feel intimidated and will yell at you and he stood his ground but you learn more about his past and there's more to him than meets the eye and I really enjoyed it.

Unfortunately I knew four's real name( I was spoiled by cousin grr she spilled his name) and I knew who he was from the beginning but I knew if I didn't know his name I would've been surprised for sure. It didnt ruin the book for me when I knew that "secret" and his name "FOUR" holds a meaning and it was an interesting meaning that I wouldn't guess. The side characters stood out as well.

The 3 people who will hurt anyone for getting in their way and will do anything to get what they want and things they did was horrible (i hate them)and there was deaths that I didn't expect. The challenges were horrendous, just thinking about gives me the chills on what they had to go through and I actually had to re-read it because I couldn't believe what has happening to the characters.

Veronica Roth's writing flowed very well and keeps you reading on what going to happen in the next chapter, what will happen to the characters, what challenges would they face. It drew me in and I was instantly experiencing what the characters were going through.

I very much enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the movie, what they'll capture in book to the big screen, it's going to be a wild ride and I might need tissues for some scenes. I'm excited to read the next two books and how it will resolve.

This book is easy to read and i enjoy it but the twists were so predictable and the ending don't make me wanna read the second one. Even though i will read the second one.

This book was good especially since it was her first book. But I feel like more background knowledge about the factions would have been nice. It was a good book overall though

Holy cow.
So far for 2011, this is my pick of the year! Seriously. One of the best ones I've read. Once I started, I could not put it down!
There is not a single thing that I did not like about the book. It had everything: romance (and NOT annoying!), suspense, danger, intrigue, fun, sad, you name it, it's in there!

Also, I am a little in love with Four.

As time goes on this series gets worse, this aged no where near as good as the Hunger Games.

I liked but not loved this. I feel like the dystopian thing has been done already. Will finish the series though.

(But really closer to 2.5 stars)

It's taken me the longest time to dreg up any enthusiasm to read this book - every time I see it I think, "I really should just check it out" and feel guilty when I open it and go "uuuuuuugggggghhhhhh I don't wanna"... I haven't read a single word and I'm already over it. *guilty feelings intensifies*

Anywho, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it wasn't great either.

It probably was the writing style that stopped it from becoming a better book (snob that I am) and for the characters to have more depth for me to become attached to any of them (besides a fleeting interest).

The love interest was also meh, but at least the concept was interesting.

And now... I can watch the movie and see if it's done a better job (I really want to see the costume designs and Dauntless' HQ!).

There are five factions and each faction does something different; Abnegation; the selfless - Dauntless; the brave - Amity; the peaceful - Erudite; the intelligent - Candor; the honest. When you are 16, you choose one of these factions to be apart of the rest of your life.

Beatrice Prior; the main character in this book. The book starts on the aptitude test day, where you take a test that will tell you which faction you belong in. You only get one option, but you can choose differently. With Beatrice, she gets three choices and when you get more then one choice, you are DIVERGENT. Being DIVERGENT is dangerous, so Beatrice has to be careful.

During the choosing ceremony, where you choose your faction, Beatrice chooses Dauntless and changed her name to Tris. She gets used to Dauntless and the initiation. But, in the end, there is something wrong. Something big happens. An attack. Two of the factions team up and attack one of the other factions. Also, there are some relationships going on during the book. But the ending is just like the end of a chapter, not the end of a book. So, as soon as I finished this book, I started the next one because I wanted to know more on what happens.

This is a must read book. Actually, it's a must read series! So start reading it! Also, the movie isn't as great as the book.

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I feared that it would be too much like the Hunger Games. I ended up liking this book more than the Hunger Games. I got into it way easier and I enjoyed the plot. I think that the characters, especially Tris, are easily relatable and likable. I can't wait to read the next books.

This was a fun, fast-paced read. Reminiscent of The Hunger Games, but different enough to be interesting!
