It was interesting to see an attempt at an overview of Buddhism at the time of writing from the perspective of this author, but in the end it read more like an unintentional push of the author's own beliefs about each school onto a naive audience, and its prose wasn't the most engaging in the end either. It might be worthwhile for someone curious about what some random Englishman from the post-war period but not as an actual introduction to the field as is claimed, I think.
