I counted 3 references to LOST and 1 reference to Mitski, which made this book a 10/10

this was so much more than a romance novel. it was like an extended episode of doctor who or black mirror, a love story wrapped in a lightly sci-fi mystery. it’s about what “adulthood” even means, if it even has one definition. it’s about queer community and history and the ways we accept the love our biological families can give us and learn to find people to love us in ways that they can’t. it’s silly and funny and heartfelt and made me as sad as it did happy.

2.5 I don't really buy August and Jane together outside of the pretty conveniently clandestine circumstances they met under. A lot of this was definitely a stretch and it dragged on at times but hey! I finished it! Also if you hate PDA, beware.

Adorable with great spicy scenes but you've got to suspend your disbelief a little and not question too hard how the 'magic' works.
