Trigger warnings for One Last Stop include: drinking, drug use, sexual content, discussion of depression and anxiety; memory loss and cognitive issues; familial estrangement; familial death; grief, missing persons; and implied PTSD. As well as mentions of past homophobic violence; hate speech and hate crimes; police violence; the AIDS crisis; childhood neglect; racism, arson.

When I started this book, I didn't really know what to make of it. I couldn't really get involved with the characters, and I couldn't find anything I was going to enjoy about it. Things changed once Jane was introduced, I definitely became more interested in it.
~
One thing that I wasn't so keen on with this book is the sexually explicit scenes. And I agree that books can have those things, and that they are appropriate to be in books, it's just not something I like in my books. That being said, this is a new adult fiction book, so the characters are older and so those things are going to be more common.
~
This book also was a really nice example of the found family trope. The way Niko, Wes and Myla all fit together, and then how August and eventually Jane slot into that family. And how the fact that Myla and Niko are dating doesn't take away from the family
And when Wes has insecurities and anxieties about when they get married and how he'll fit into that plan, they help to assuage those doubts.

A New Girl vibe + A Schitt's Creek cast + Lesbians = one happy reader. I grinned, giggled, laughed out loud, and stifled reactions in public because of this book. I felt some type of way about reading certain scenes at work and kept reading anyway because I was not hitting pause on this story for love or money. Pancake Billy's House of Pancakes was a magical setting with a feeling that I can only dream of transposing onto my own stories, and the characters were either helplessly lovable or comically despisable.
SpoilerThe ending felt a bit self-indulgent, but I'm willing to let that slide because of how enjoyable the whole reading experience was.
This was an incredible world to get lost in, especially during Pride month. I'm glad to have spent time in it.

This book was amazing. It had biracial relationships, lgbtq+ characters, transgender representation, mental health representation as well. It was amazingly written but due to the medium pace it was a 4.5 for me.

I feel so conflicted about this book. Because it was so good. The characters were amazing, August went through a great character journey, I loved the found family aspect and how the author created the atmosphere so I could feel how important New York was for the story, almost like a character itself. It also had a bunch of discussion on queer history and activism and how much people had to suffer and fight in the past. The only problem I had was that I couldn’t fully get into the romance.

And this was probably caused by my adoration towards enemies-to-lovers/ dislike-to-love stories. And one of the reasons I love this trope is because we first get to see the characters as flawed people. Because the character don’t understand each other, they easily find flaws that make them instantly feel more human to me.

In this book, however, August falls in love with Jane at first sight (which I’m not even going to comment on because who hasn’t randomly fallen in love for a few seconds with someone on public transportation?) and from then on, in her perspective, she’s perfect. And it’s perfectly normal to see your crush like they are the sun. But Jane retained this mystical, perfect feeling about her all throughout the novel that made me not be able to connect with her.

Don’t get me wrong, the romance was adorable and made my stomach do some weird flips a few times. But I wasn’t as invested into their relationship as I would’ve liked since this is still a romance novel. However, talking about relationships, I was so freaking invested in the found family aspect. I love Myla, Niko and Wes with all my heart. And I think Niko might be my new role model. I just love psychics and I think we need more stories about them. Please and thank you.

August's roommates were my favorite part, i love the found family trope, which made me a little disappointed with their brief plot line resolutions, but other than that i enjoyed the plot and was satisfied with the ending. i appreciated the writing, it's improved from their debut Red, White & Royal Blue. i was extremely uncomfortable during the public sex scene 😬. 4⅜ stars
cover design review: ★★☆☆☆. yikes, it's just overwhelming. let's count the different typefaces: author name (1), bestselling author (2), title (3), "a novel" (4), Q line symbol (5), and tagline (6). all the different colors, three shades of purplish pink that don't go well together, the "S" is higher than the "TOP" in "STOP", Jane's posture looks stiff and unnatural, just very disappointing. the Spanish edition is gorgeous 😭 and the Portuguese edition is good too, love the art style and the easter eggs from the story but i think the character design is somewhat juvenile
