August's roommates were my favorite part, i love the found family trope, which made me a little disappointed with their brief plot line resolutions, but other than that i enjoyed the plot and was satisfied with the ending. i appreciated the writing, it's improved from their debut Red, White & Royal Blue. i was extremely uncomfortable during the public sex scene 😬. 4⅜ stars
cover design review: ★★☆☆☆. yikes, it's just overwhelming. let's count the different typefaces: author name (1), bestselling author (2), title (3), "a novel" (4), Q line symbol (5), and tagline (6). all the different colors, three shades of purplish pink that don't go well together, the "S" is higher than the "TOP" in "STOP", Jane's posture looks stiff and unnatural, just very disappointing. the Spanish edition is gorgeous 😭 and the Portuguese edition is good too, love the art style and the easter eggs from the story but i think the character design is somewhat juvenile

I definitely understand the hype around this book! I loved the concept, and overall I thought it was well-done. The pace slowed down in the middle, but I was invested enough in the characters by then to keep going. I liked the combination of informal and poetic prose, but you have to be ready to fully jump in to the protagonist's mind to appreciate it.

Thanks to St Martin's Press for the free advance copy of this book.

📚 You probably knew it was coming with this review, but basically my review is QUEER SCREAMINGGGGGG!
📚 Jane and August are a couple for the ages - opposites attract, and the chemistry leaps off the page. They feel completely distinct and real and whole, and also meant for each other.
📚 ONE LAST STOP is also very much about love and family, especially queer found family. August's roommates and the others in their orbit are the kind of people who make being queer so great.
📚 It's also about the wonderful incidents of serendipity that can happen when one lives in a big city, which I loved. The corner of New York occupied by Billy's and its family was the kind of city institution that feels like a decades-long hug.
📚 Even knowing that this was a romance novel and thing were going to turn out okay, I still held my breath through much of the book, and cried more than once at the idea that things MIGHT go sideways for August and Jane. Oh no, I'm crying thinking about it now and I've read the dang book!
