This was a slow start for me, but then it picked up and I loved the ride! My favorite part is the ending, that the author carried the story a little further than the norm, which I so appreciated.

A marked improvement from Red White and Royal Blue for me. The chemistry and stakes felt real but be warned August's inner dialogue can be mildly transphobic. Commenting on characters lack of genitals and making sweeping judgements on how binary bodies look. It's jarring and feels out of place everytime it happens but it only occurs a couple of times.

I LOVED this book. If you like Casey McQuiston’s other books you’ll like this, but I thought it was even better than Red, White, and Royal Blue. I found it to be much more real and compelling, and the characters were much more relatable to me: they’re capital Q Queer, they’re radicals, they’re service workers, they have mom trauma, etc. This book made me swoon, laugh, cry, and long to go to a drag show.

i might be biased bc i read my partner’s annotated version but i completely forgot how much of a sucker i am for wattpad-y romcoms sometimes. i enjoyed one last stop a lot. it left me with tears in my eyes, trying not to laugh out loud in the train and on the edge of my seat. i had so much fun with it, the only aspects that don’t sit right with me are the sex and making out scenes in the train but i guess it was to be expected and at the end that’s just where the story unfolded itself. also, the chapters could’ve been kept shorter, imo

but all in all, fun read

Love love the ghost butch, and many of the background characters, but I'm not into the main character very much. The ending was sweet, but it lowkey felt like a betrayal of
Jane's character for her to stay in August's time. It's a fabulous ending for August, but it's really really tragic for Jane, and it's lightly addressed but Jane loses everything and everyone she's ever known except for August.
