4.5 ⭐️ I love when a sequel is as good or better than the first installment. I don’t typically like YA, but the way in which Adalyn has taken the time to flesh out her characters and their relationships is something that I appreciate as a reader. The plot twists, the selfless friendship between Signa and Blyth, the petty conversations, the complicated relationship between Death and Fate… I ATE IT UP. Also the hint of a bit of Chaos? Although I’m sad to be taking a break from this setting, I’m excited for the third book later this year.

I enjoyed this second installment in the series - I love the dark gothic romance vibes. I'd have liked some more romantic tension between the characters, but the end was interesting and made sense!

Signa annoyed me in this book. She should have come clean to Blythe about everything and it made no sense why she only told her part of it. Go figure when you lie to people/withhold information it causes an huge mess. Also I thought it was super obvious who Life was and was annoyed that no one bothered to look into or even entertain other possibilities. Signa also does nothing to help try to get her uncle released. She goes and sees him once and then that’s all she does the entire book besides think about it sometimes about how I should really figure this out. Very frustrating.

Another beautiful book. Although 4stars for me as I struggled with the switch of perspectives from Signa to Blythe. However I am really looking forward to Wisteria!

I think I loved this book just as much as the last. It was a great sequel and I can’t wait until the third book. I had my suspicions, and was right, about some things and I was surprised by other twists. I liked this book a lot, but I did find it slower than the first. The first book grabbed me and held me, whereas I had to force myself to pick this one up. I’m definitely a mood reader, so maybe I just wasn’t in the mood. It was definitely a slower read and I think that’s why I struggled so much. A lot of detail for the last bit of the book to have the most action All in all, a good story. I love the way this universe and magic is built up— it feels fresh and unique. And through all the twists and turns, I think you still get the ending you hope for and the loose ends get tied.
